The Quran mentions sorcery (sihr) and presents it as a forbidden and harmful practice, notably in Surah al-Baqara (2:102).
Abdelaziz firmly condemns sorcery in all its forms. He regrets that harmful formulas now circulate freely on the Internet, and that ill-intentioned people take advantage of others' distress for money.
What roqya does
Roqya consists of reciting the Quran and the invocations handed down by the tradition, placing one's trust in Allah. Abdelaziz practises no incantations, makes no talismans and provides neither herbs nor medicines.
“Toukal”
In Maghrebi culture, the word toukal refers to a substance believed to have been given to someone in their food or drink without their knowledge. If you think you have swallowed a harmful substance, medical care comes first: call 15 or 112, or a poison control centre.
Keeping your peace of mind
Fear of sorcery can become overwhelming. The tradition reminds us that nothing happens without Allah's permission, and that recitation and invocation are a protection for the believer.
