Understanding roqya
Definition, the place of the Quran, how a session works and common questions.
Roqya (ar-ruqya ash-sharʿiyya) is a practice of the Islamic tradition that consists of reciting verses of the Quran and invocations over a person, asking Allah for healing and protection.
The place of the Quran
For Abdelaziz, the Quran is the foundation of the whole approach. Roqya calls on no other power: it consists of reciting, invoking and placing one's trust in Allah. The Prophet ﷺ practised it for himself and for those around him.
The two pillars of prophetic roqya
- Recitation of the Quran and invocations, sometimes over water, oil or honey.
- Products of the tradition: olive oil, honey, black seed, figs, ginger… presented in the Prophetic roqya section.
How does a session work?
Abdelaziz begins by listening. He then recites the verses and invocations he considers appropriate. At the end of the first meeting, he tells you whether he proposes a follow-up, in what form and on what terms. The decision remains yours.
For yourself, or with a raqi?
Anyone can recite for themselves and find comfort in it. When the situation seems heavier, it can help to turn to an experienced person, as long as they are serious and transparent.
What roqya is not
Quranic roqya consists of reciting the Quran and prophetic invocations while asking Allah for healing. It is clearly distinct from:
- sorcery and any occult practice, which Islam forbids;
- rituals intended to act upon or harm another person;
- requests aimed at forcing someone's feelings or decisions (“bringing back a loved one”, etc.).
Abdelaziz does not accept this kind of request.
The evil eye, sorcery and spiritual influences are approached within their religious framework: they are not medical diagnoses, and roqya does not replace care or prescribed treatment.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be Muslim to consult?
No. Abdelaziz receives everyone with the same respect, whatever their background or beliefs.
How many sessions should I expect?
It depends on each situation. Support can involve one, two or three sessions, sometimes more. Abdelaziz will tell you after the first meeting.
Can the consultation take place remotely?
Yes, under the conditions set by Abdelaziz. Usually a first meeting in person is needed. For people who cannot travel (ill or bedridden), a solution is considered.
What are the prices?
Prices are not shown on the website. Abdelaziz tells you directly after a first exchange, and the decision remains yours.
Does roqya replace a doctor?
No. Roqya is spiritual support. It replaces neither a diagnosis nor medical or psychological treatment. Never stop a treatment without medical advice.
Can I practise roqya for myself?
Yes. Every believer can recite the Quran and the invocations for themselves. Abdelaziz encourages this as a daily practice.
Will what I share remain confidential?
Yes. Nothing you share is disclosed. The booking form does not even ask for any information about your situation.
